Doctor Bones is a level-90 Skin Skellie Bard, the former announcer and disc jockey of the Penis Parade, and one of the non-player characters recruited into the Princess Posse's mercenary force. He is normally an animated skeleton rather than one of the club's dancers, although his species can temporarily grow flesh and organs when a performance or patron requires it. After the death of Astrid threatens the club's existing staff with reassignment, he leaves the Penis Parade under Carl's mercenary contract. His training in military charm magic and his experience as an entertainer subsequently make him a specialist in manipulating hostile groups during the final battles of the eighth floor and the Faction Wars campaign on the ninth.
Unlike the louder personalities among the former club workers, Doctor Bones is defined by a division between his public role and his private manner. His amplified stage voice is deep and theatrical, suited to announcing dancers and controlling a busy room. In conversation with Carl, however, he sounds quiet and academic. That contrast continues after his recruitment: he can deliver threats in a booming performance voice during battle, then calmly explain the limitations of a spell or make a dry observation among his colleagues.
Carl
Carl is simultaneously Doctor Bones's patron, employer, and commander. The mercenary agreement gives Carl formal control, but Doctor Bones contributes information that Carl does not possess. He explains bard patronage, distinguishes Conscript from Minion Army, and identifies ways his spells exceed Carl's versions. Carl in turn tries to keep the former club workers alive, warning that deaths outside the arcade may be permanent for mercenaries who lack special regeneration. Their relationship develops as a practical exchange between a commander who supplies protection and a specialist who makes the army's unconventional tactics possible.
Donut
Donut first responds to Doctor Bones as a fan. She knows his work at the Penis Parade, celebrates his recruitment, and ranks him among the best DJs she recognizes. Their later connection is tactical as well as personal. Doctor Bones's expertise helps validate her use of Minion Army, a spell she has possessed for several floors but avoided because its long casting period leaves her rooted and exposed. His advice gives her a clearer understanding of how a small number of turned enemies can destabilize a much larger force.
The Penis Parade workers
Doctor Bones's closest recurring associations are with the former club staff, especially Splash Zone and Dong Quixote. He and Splash Zone defend the castle together, coordinate against invisible attackers, and recover rapidly after the blast that disrupts the battlefield. With Dong, Splash Zone, and Bucket Boy, he searches for colleagues who disappeared after the venues were restaffed. Their shared jokes and recollections are not incidental comedy alone; they show that the group retains a collective history after being converted from entertainers into military assets.
Doctor Bones's trajectory is consequently shaped by continuity rather than reinvention.
