Former Child Actor Cat is the crawler designation used for Princess Donut after she selects the Former Child Actor class upon entering the Third Floor. Former Child Actor is a rare Earth class built around Charisma, Chance, and adaptation. Its defining Character Actor skill lets Donut emulate a new temporary class on each floor while retaining her permanent abilities. The class also grants poison and disease immunity, the life-saving Cockroach skill, accelerated development of Charisma-based skills, and the Manager benefit that permanently changes Mordecai's role in her crawl.

The class is not merely a humorous label for Donut's public persona. It becomes the framework through which her build changes from floor to floor. Early versions of its temporary specialties are incomplete and unreliable, but the Character Actor skill improves whenever Donut descends. By the later floors, it can supply nearly complete class packages, additional spells, and class-linked equipment. The permanent class therefore trades the certainty and focused progression of an ordinary crawler class for a succession of increasingly powerful roles selected in response to each floor.

Eligibility and selection

Former Child Actor appears among the class choices offered to Donut before the Third Floor. The system describes it as a rare offshoot of Character Actor and restricts it to crawlers who have both the Cut! achievement and at least one trillion views. Donut identifies Cut! as the achievement she earned for her performance while deceiving the goblin shamankas. Her enormous audience supplies the second requirement, making the class inseparable from her status as both a crawler and an entertainment figure.

Mechanically, the class is a Charisma- and Chance-based Earth class derived from a Bard/Rogue jack-of-all-trades subclass. Donut receives it as one of three system recommendations alongside Artist Alley Mogul and NecroBard. The alternatives offer more predictable benefits. Artist Alley Mogul emphasizes trade, defense, and navigation, while NecroBard combines magical support with an entertainment skill. Former Child Actor instead offers a variable package whose value depends on both Donut's choice of floor specialty and the system's chance-based allocation of that specialty's abilities.

The class begins with a level-three Character Actor skill and a level-five Cockroach skill. Its permanent benefits also include immunity to poison and disease, ten additional points of Charisma, and a fifteen-percent increase in the training rate of Charisma-based skills. Because it is an Earth class, choosing it also awards a Silver Earth Box. Its remaining listed feature, the Manager benefit, is less transparent at the selection screen but becomes one of the most consequential parts of Donut's decision.

Carl and Donut choose Former Child Actor as part of a plan suggested by Odette. They conceal that plan from Mordecai by staging an apparent selection of Artist Alley Mogul. Donut announces that she has taken the safer, merchant-oriented option, then reveals that the announcement was an act and that Former Child Actor is her permanent class. She uses Artist Alley as her first temporary specialty instead. Mordecai's anger is directed chiefly at the Manager benefit and at the deception required to activate it without his warning.

The system subsequently identifies Donut as a level-13 Former Child Actor Cat. Later crawler rankings continue to list her race as Cat and her class as Former Child Actor, confirming that the temporary floor roles do not replace the permanent class name.

Character Actor specialties

Character Actor requires Donut to select a new specialty after descending to each floor. In effect, she emulates another class for that floor and loses its temporary package when the floor ends. Her existing permanent spells and skills remain, although a temporary class's penalties can still modify them. Mordecai gives Necromancer as an example: such a specialty would leave Magic Missile in place but could increase its mana cost for the duration of the floor.

Chance governs how much of a selected class Donut actually receives. Choosing a specialty does not initially guarantee every statistic increase, spell, skill, discount, or other benefit in its description. A poor result can leave her with an incomplete and underpowered version until the next descent. The Character Actor skill itself advances only through descent rather than ordinary practice, but each higher level improves the quality of the temporary package. This structure makes the class weakest near its beginning and progressively more dependable as Donut reaches deeper floors.

The changing specialties also create a different kind of progression from an ordinary class. Donut does not simply accumulate every temporary benefit forever. She repeatedly loses one package and chooses another, while selected abilities can sometimes remain at reduced strength or preserve training achieved during their floor. Her permanent spells, equipment, statistics, and Former Child Actor benefits provide continuity beneath those changes. The result is an adaptive build rather than a complete reset: each floor changes her immediate role without erasing the crawler developed underneath it.

Artist Alley specialty

On the Third Floor, Donut chooses Artist Alley Mogul as the first class emulated through Character Actor. The novel later calls the emulated role Artist Alley Merchant, but the selection scene names it Artist Alley Mogul. The incomplete early Character Actor roll denies her several of the specialty's most desirable features, including its store-purchase discount, Shield spell, and Pathfinder skill. She does receive a bonus to sales and uses it with her already exceptional Charisma while negotiating the disposal of looted equipment.

This first specialty demonstrates both the class's versatility and its early unreliability. Donut can borrow a role chosen for the floor without making it her permanent identity, but she receives only part of the advertised package. The omission of Pathfinder is especially significant because Carl and Mordecai had valued its help in locating stairwells, shops, and guilds. When Donut descends again, she loses the Artist Alley bonuses, including the Dexterity and sales advantages she had actually obtained.

Football Hooligan specialty

At the beginning of the Fourth Floor, Donut receives a fresh list of classes and only six minutes to select one before the system assigns a random choice. Mordecai recommends Football Hooligan over Firecracker because the Iron Tangle's moving trains and tunnels make its momentum and group benefits useful. Donut obtains the Mascot skill, which benefits Mongo, and the specialty's ten-point Constitution increase. She does not receive Group Chant or Moving Riot, and she also reports missing another movement-linked damage benefit.

Football Hooligan shows how temporary specialties can cover weaknesses in Donut's permanent build. Her Enhanced Growth does not direct level-up points into Constitution, so the temporary ten-point increase materially improves her durability for that floor. Its loss on the next descent becomes part of the next selection calculation rather than a permanent correction.

Glass Cannon specialty

For the Fifth Floor, Mordecai recommends Glass Cannon because it offers fifteen Constitution, faster spell training, reduced spell costs, and stronger magic. Its normal restriction against adding Constitution at level-up has little practical cost for Donut, who cannot freely assign her Enhanced Growth points anyway. The choice remains a gamble, however, because the Constitution increase is the feature the party most needs and Character Actor may fail to reproduce it.

That is exactly what happens. Donut receives the Glass Cannon package except for the fifteen Constitution. The omission leaves Carl and Mordecai needing to keep her out of direct danger, but the magical portion is powerful. Her Hole spell becomes strong enough to penetrate obstacles that it could not previously cross, and its increased reach becomes important to plans involving inaccessible spaces. Her spell training also has a longer consequence: by the next floor, Mordecai reports that she retained improved versions of Hole, Magic Missile, and Puddle Jumper after working with them under Glass Cannon.

Legendary Diva specialty

On the Sixth Floor, Donut chooses Legendary Diva, a bard class that casts spells through singing. At this point her Character Actor skill has reached level six. Mordecai states that she receives all of Legendary Diva's starting skills as well as several upgraded ones, together with enchantment spells and a Constitution improvement. The near-complete result marks a clear change from the missing core benefits of Artist Alley, Football Hooligan, and Glass Cannon.

Legendary Diva also demonstrates the permanent class's expanding tactical range. Donut can enter a floor with her established attack spells and Mongo-related abilities, then add a bard's magical support and control repertoire without abandoning Former Child Actor. The role fits her high Charisma particularly well, even though the performance requirement creates its own practical complications for the party.

Master Telephone Psychic specialty

On the Eighth Floor, Donut chooses Master Telephone Psychic after rejecting Agony Urchin because it would alter her appearance. Mordecai recommends the Psychic option for its mapping improvement and offensive charm magic. Donut receives every listed benefit and several additional spells, evidence that Character Actor has become substantially more powerful than it was on the Third Floor.

The specialty expands her map across the entire starting building, though it does not initially display mobs. It raises Intelligence by five and supplies Brain Freeze, Bad Attitude, and Why Are You Hitting Yourself. Brain Freeze combines damage with an Intelligence drain and can inflict temporary blindness at a sufficiently high level. Bad Attitude lowers Intelligence and resistances, making it complementary to Carl's Fear spell, while Why Are You Hitting Yourself compels a target to attack itself. Donut also retains the level-three Venom Spitter skill from the preceding floor, showing that at least some earlier temporary abilities can persist in diminished form.

Deathbed Hellcat specialty

Upon entering the Ninth Floor, Donut's selection interface begins attaching accessories to class choices. She rejects deity-linked and unsuitable options before taking Deathbed Hellcat, a class whose package includes a hat and a ghillie suit. She also receives a Former Child Actor accessory kit in the saferoom mailbox. The ghillie suit occupies her jacket slot, covers her body in adaptive camouflage, and grants a concealment-oriented skill.

Deathbed Hellcat supports long-range combat during Faction Wars. From an elevated position in the Nest tower, Donut's class works with her tiara's targeting abilities so that her long-range spells can strike anything she can see. This is a mature expression of Character Actor's intended adaptability: the temporary role is not simply a statistical bonus but a specialty that can be integrated with battlefield construction, equipment, and Donut's established spell set.

Late on the Ninth Floor, Donut gains the Oak Fell class and a champion title through a separate event. She checks whether the change has displaced her original build and confirms that her Former Child Actor benefits remain. Oak Fell and the champion status are added to, rather than substituted for, her permanent class. Former Child Actor therefore remains the foundation beneath later class additions.

Cockroach skill and immunities

The level-five Cockroach skill protects Donut from the first fatal hit of a fight. Mordecai explains at class selection that activation leaves her near death; when it first triggers in practice, her health reaches zero and then stabilizes at five percent. The skill is difficult to train safely because ordinary improvement requires it to activate, although potions or a training guild can provide alternatives. Mordecai describes level ten as preventing the first fatal strike from reducing health, showing that the skill's protection becomes stronger as it advances.

Cockroach repeatedly changes the outcome of otherwise fatal attacks. It saves Donut when monsters overwhelm her while Mongo defends her, when an enchanted dagger strikes her in the back, when she intercepts a lightning attack aimed through Mongo, and when a growing area attack reduces her health to zero during the Sixth Floor finale. These activations do not make her invulnerable. She remains unconscious or critically injured after some uses, and another fatal attack in the same fight can still kill her. The skill also cannot preserve a body destroyed outright; Carl later recognizes that it would not save her from being blown apart.

The class's poison and disease immunity is separate from Cockroach. It protects Donut when she is poisoned during the Third Floor, while Carl's comparable protection at that moment comes from equipment. The immunity does not prevent every harmful status effect or the potion-sickness consequences of consuming incompatible potions too quickly. Together, immunity and Cockroach give the physically fragile Donut two forms of protection: one blocks whole categories of hazards, and the other supplies a final defense against a lethal hit.

The Manager benefit

Selecting Former Child Actor converts Mordecai from Donut's game guide into her manager. From that point onward he is teleported to any saferoom occupied by Donut. He loses his previous tunnel access and information-codex privileges, as well as the independent routine he expected to regain after the Third Floor. The change lasts for the remainder of Donut's time in the dungeon.

The apparent loss of system resources is balanced by the removal of restrictions that limited what Mordecai could tell the crawlers as a guide. As manager, he can use chat, advise from his own extensive memory, and apply his alchemical mastery at available workbenches. Odette argues that his accumulated knowledge is more valuable than codex access, especially when paired with the ability to communicate and prepare potions. Carl and Donut accept the cost because they judge his continuing direct assistance essential to their survival.

This benefit also makes Former Child Actor consequential beyond Donut's personal statistics. It changes the party's access to expertise on every later floor. Mordecai helps interpret new specialty lists under severe time limits, evaluates which temporary classes compensate for lost attributes, and identifies the risks of chance-based rolls. The class that makes Donut adaptable also secures the adviser needed to make that adaptability useful.

Role in Donut's build

Former Child Actor combines three otherwise separate forms of development. Its permanent benefits strengthen Donut's Charisma-centered identity and protect her against poison, disease, and a fatal blow. Character Actor supplies a floor-specific role whose reliability grows with descent. The Manager benefit preserves a continuing source of tactical and technical knowledge for the party. None of those parts is sufficient alone: the temporary specialties can fail to reproduce vital benefits, Cockroach cannot answer repeated or body-destroying attacks, and Mordecai must work without his former codex.

The class's central tradeoff is therefore controlled uncertainty. Donut gives up a predictable permanent specialization for the ability to answer each new floor with a different toolkit. On the Third Floor that gamble produces a partial merchant package. By the Eighth and Ninth Floors it yields full spell collections, enhanced mapping, added equipment, and a long-range combat role. The title Former Child Actor Cat remains constant while the performance attached to it changes, making the class one of the principal mechanisms through which Donut's abilities evolve across the crawl.
