Lucia Mar is an underage crawler in Dungeon Crawler World: Earth, a Lajabless Black Inquisitor General whose early combat success, volatile behavior, and two Rottweilers make her one of the season's most feared contestants. She reaches the top of the public leaderboard before Carl and Princess Donut, and for much of the crawl other contestants know her chiefly through recap programs: a small, exceptionally violent girl who fights beside Cici and Gustavo 3, accumulates player-killer marks, and alternates between two adult Lajabless forms. Direct encounters gradually reveal that this public image is incomplete. Lucia's abrupt changes of voice and temperament are connected to Alexandro, her dogs, and a large group of children whose minds or consciousnesses are somehow linked to her body.
That connection makes Lucia both an immediate danger and a person whom the surviving crawlers cannot safely abandon. Her attacks kill crawlers and non-player characters, and her traps remain dangerous even after she leaves an area. At the same time, personalities speaking through her ask for protection, and the loss of each dog weakens Alexandro's control. By the Ninth Floor, Carl's group treats Lucia neither simply as an enemy nor as an ordinary ally: they restrain her when necessary, attempt to protect the children connected to her, and rely on Florin to remain close to her.
Early prominence in the crawl
Lucia first becomes visible to Carl and Donut through dungeon broadcasts. On the early floors, she fights with a mace while Cici and Gustavo 3 tear through nearby monsters. The dogs enter the dungeon as non-sapient pets rather than crawlers, allowing Lucia to keep both of them. Their first reported upgrades immediately distinguish the trio: one dog wears protective chainmail, while the other can discharge lightning with its bark. Lucia herself acquires magical equipment, a personal defensive shield, and enough speed and dexterity to run along walls and perform acrobatic attacks.
Her progress is accompanied by violence against other crawlers. A first-floor recap shows four player-killer skulls beside her name without explaining the killings. She also appears on Odette's program before Carl and Donut, where one of her dogs mauls a producer. These incidents establish a pattern that continues throughout the crawl: Lucia is enormously valuable to the entertainment product, but the production staff cannot reliably control her or her animals.
On the Third Floor, Lucia chooses the Lajabless race. The change replaces her original childlike appearance with alternating adult forms. Her magic-focused cycle appears as a beautiful woman with dark hair, while the strength-focused cycle has a skeletal, witchlike face. The transformation does not affect Cici or Gustavo because they remain pets. Lucia selects the Black Inquisitor General class and continues leveling faster than almost every other contestant. At the end of the floor she is level 29 and ranked first, ahead of Hekla, Prepotente, Florin, Carl, and Donut.
The dungeon's media turns Lucia's hostility into a manufactured feud. After Donut drunkenly insults the Rottweilers, a program presents the remark as a formal challenge. Lucia is shown on a staged arena-fight program with the dogs and responds by promising to kill Donut and Carl in the dungeon, where their deaths would be permanent. The segment exaggerates the conflict for viewers, but Lucia's threat is genuine. Her determination to avenge insults or injuries to the dogs later drives two direct attempts on Donut and Mongo.
Lajabless abilities and combat methods
Lucia's two Lajabless cycles divide her strengths rather than merely changing her appearance. The beautiful form is associated with spellcasting, while the skull-faced form is built for physical combat. Even in the latter form, enchanted equipment gives her access to magic. Her mismatched legs—including a goat leg—leave her with a visible limp, but they do not prevent sudden bursts of speed, wall-crawling, or close-quarters attacks.
Her most consequential early defense is Rubber, a high-level effect that reduces incoming damage and redirects it to a chosen target. The spell can extend to Cici and Gustavo. Because an attacker may not realize that the effect is active, striking any member of the trio can injure or kill somebody else. Lucia also employs shields capable of absorbing repeated attacks, teleportation, magical concealment, dispelling clouds, snares, anti-escape fields, and an unusually large set of automatic hotlist triggers.
Teleport traps become her characteristic battlefield tool. Loop-de-Loop can relocate a victim to a prepared point or exchange the victim's position with Lucia's. She places these traps around settlements and saferoom entrances, then combines them with restraints or waiting attacks from the dogs. On the Ninth Floor, her layered contingency traps draw power from active magical towers. One personal net expires only to enable a second field, demonstrating that her defenses can persist and activate after she has left the playing field. Victory describes this use of Power Siphon as unusually inventive.
Lucia's tactics are effective partly because they blur the boundary between preparation and ambush. She hides map dots, seeds buildings with triggers, and arranges attacks so that an opponent's expected escape activates the next hazard. She can also fight without relying on the floor's featured mechanic. On the Eighth Floor, she largely refuses the card system: she empties her hand as quickly as possible, restoring access to her regular spells and inventory, and then lets her established build and Gustavo do the killing.
Ifechi's death and the beginning of Florin's guardianship
Lucia's most important early encounter with Florin occurs at the end of the Fifth Floor. Lucia enters a stairwell station in her magic-focused form with both dogs. When Florin and his partner Ifechi approach, Lucia claims the station as hers, throws another crawler across the room, and threatens to damage Ifechi's head if Florin speaks again. She then appears to address somebody who is not physically present.
When Cici and Gustavo charge, Florin fires on Lucia and both animals. Rubber redirects the attacks to Ifechi, whom Lucia has selected as the target. The reflected shotgun blasts kill Ifechi before Florin understands what he is actually hitting. The dungeon assigns him the player-killer mark, while Lucia, protected by her spell, survives. After an ice spell sends her sliding into the stairwell, she and the dogs descend to the next floor. Florin remains behind beside Ifechi's body.
The killing initially gives Florin every reason to hate Lucia. Instead, it eventually places him in the best position to recognize that her behavior changes when the dogs are absent. He learns to distinguish the hostile personality associated with Lucia and Alexandro from frightened children who sometimes control the same body. His later insistence that Lucia must be kept alive is not forgiveness for Ifechi's death; it follows from evidence that killing Lucia would endanger other victims trapped in the arrangement.
Cici's death and evidence of other voices
On the Sixth Floor, Lucia enters a forest settlement, kills its mayor, samples its food and alcohol, and places teleport traps around the town. She encounters Donut shortly after Carl is transported away for an appearance. A Loop-de-Loop trap switches Donut into the space between the two Rottweilers, while a second sequence is intended to restrain her for the dogs. Donut avoids the first attack, and Samantha inadvertently triggers part of the trap network, but Lucia eventually snares Donut inside a burning treehouse pub.
During the standoff, Lucia's conduct changes several times. She first pauses the fight, asks for milk, and says that someone named Alexandro—whom she identifies as her youth assistant—wants her to finish Donut. She remembers companions named Bini, Abraham, and Siti from the Fifth Floor and admits that Gustavo killed people after she fell asleep without telling him to sleep. She calls Gustavo the worse of the two dogs. Moments later, her demeanor hardens and she orders Cici to kill Donut.
Donut escapes by overlaying an illusion upon herself, turning invisible, and opening a hole beneath her position. When Cici thrusts her head through the opening, Donut cancels the spell, severing the dog's head. Lucia collapses over Cici's body and grieves, then changes forms and resolves to kill everyone. Her distress is personal rather than a performance: Cici's death removes one of her closest companions and one of the apparent anchors through which Alexandro affects her.
The encounter also exposes a contradiction in Lucia's presence. Dungeon rules are supposed to remove children below the eligible age and place them with youth assistants in a protected facility. Alexandro's claimed role therefore should not exist inside an active crawler. Mordecai cannot explain why a youth assistant is speaking to Lucia or why Lucia herself remains in the dungeon. The anomaly becomes more significant once Florin speaks directly with another child using her body.
The children within Lucia
During the Butcher's Masquerade, Florin finds Lucia crying and briefly speaks with a personality named Jill. Jill says she is a ten-year-old Dutch child and demonstrates knowledge inconsistent with Lucia's reported background. Lucia then changes instantaneously: her posture, accent, voice, and temperament revert, and she threatens Florin and Donut. Florin concludes that several real children are sharing or passing through Lucia's body. He further determines that Gustavo allows Alexandro to maintain control, even from a distance, although that control weakens when the dog is away.
The novels do not present this condition as an ordinary psychiatric diagnosis. The changes correlate with a supernatural or technological mechanism, the dogs' proximity, and children held outside the dungeon. Individual speakers possess different names, memories, accents, and levels of knowledge. Lucia's own identity remains part of the group, but she is not always the person responding through the body.
Florin consequently shifts the group's objective from killing Lucia to separating her from Gustavo. He also begins acting as her guardian. Lucia continues to threaten Donut over Cici and remains capable of sudden violence, yet Florin stays near her, calms frightened personalities, and intervenes when others treat her only as a hostile crawler. Their relationship is defined by this tension: Lucia caused Ifechi's death, but Florin becomes the person most committed to protecting Lucia and the other children from Alexandro.
The Eighth Floor and the Battle of Beijing
Lucia's Eighth Floor conduct shows that her hostility does not erase her capacity for cooperation. During the struggle for keys, she and Gustavo attack crawlers around the Soho building and catch members of Fang's team in a teleport trap. Lucia kills Fang and his wife and takes their key. The scale of the fighting leads survivors to call the confrontation the Battle of Beijing.
After Florin asks her to help the other crawlers, Lucia waits near the stairwell for Li Jun's group. She gives them five Tier 3 Doggie Door personal-space upgrades, technology that allows a room's door to serve as a fast-travel link to previously used doors on the same floor. One is installed in Imani's room, allowing members of the Meadowlark party to reach distant safe locations through their shared personal space. The gift lets a large group join Carl's force in Cuba and materially changes their ability to coordinate.
Her assistance is followed by another personality shift. Before descending, Lucia warns that she still intends to kill Donut and Mongo. The sequence demonstrates why the other crawlers cannot treat one friendly interaction as a permanent change of allegiance. A cooperative personality may supply rare equipment and honor Florin's request, while the hostile Lucia may reappear moments later with the same body, inventory, and combat abilities.
Faction Wars, conscription, and Gustavo's death
Lucia spends much of the Ninth Floor outside the Princess Posse's coalition. She camps with Gustavo at Possum Envy near the Reavers' border and reacts violently to recruitment attempts. During the later fighting in Larracos, she enters the Nest tower to pursue Donut and Mongo in revenge for Cici. She binds Donut to the tower with an anti-escape trap, uses a magical leash to direct Gustavo, and withstands conditions intended to suppress spellcasting.
After Lucia is knocked down the tower, Carl uses a Hell-kissed Conscription potion rather than allowing Raul to kill her. As a conscripted member of the Princess Posse, she is compelled to disable protections and obey orders that prevent her from harming Carl's side. The control reveals the extraordinary depth of her preparation: Carl sees numerous active protection effects and roughly thirty automatic hotlist triggers.
When Gustavo is temporarily separated from her, another child takes control. She identifies herself as Diah and says that Lucia is with Alexandro, that Alexandro is present only when the dogs are close, and that the other children wait in a dark, cold place. Diah describes the children taking turns seeing through Lucia when the controlling presence fades. Her account is interrupted before Carl can fully investigate it.
Gustavo nearly kills Mongo during the ensuing battle. His Porcupine Defense impales the dinosaur from inside the mouth, and he follows with lightning before attacking Mongo's neck. Rend arrives using Wrecking Ball and destroys the back half of Gustavo, killing Lucia's remaining dog. Lucia immediately tends to the critically injured Mongo with a pet-healing potion, but another change follows: the hostile presence claims that the broken connection has created a new ally for the Eulogist and warns Carl that killing Lucia would also kill the children.
Zev later confirms the essential danger. Lucia's entry into the dungeon was initially treated as a correctable glitch, but the system cannot administratively extract her. Approximately 120,000 children from one wing of the surface kinder facility are linked to her, and the liaison team no longer knows whether they would survive Lucia's death. Carl therefore orders that Lucia be protected while the mechanism is investigated.
At the close of the Ninth Floor conflict, Lucia remains alive and temporarily subject to the Princess Posse's conscription. Florin volunteers to stay with her if she refuses or cannot take a deal, and Jurgen is likewise prepared to protect her because his missing pregnant wife may be connected to the same surface facility. Lucia's status is consequently unresolved: she is still a highly capable crawler responsible for multiple deaths, but she is also the living point of connection to thousands of children whose survival may depend upon hers.
Relationships
Lucia's bond with Cici and Gustavo is both affectionate and coercive. She grieves Cici, tries to avenge her, and treats both dogs as family and weapons. Yet she also admits that they kill without her permission, and evidence from Jill and Diah indicates that Gustavo enables Alexandro to suppress the other personalities. The dogs protect Lucia physically while helping imprison her psychologically.
Her feud with Princess Donut begins as broadcast manipulation but becomes real after Cici's death. Each regards the other's pet as a legitimate target, and both confrontations nearly kill Mongo or Donut. Even so, Donut's side ultimately chooses conscription and containment over executing Lucia.
Florin is Lucia's principal protector. He is also the person most directly harmed by her use of Rubber, since she makes him the unwitting instrument of Ifechi's death. His decision to remain with her therefore carries unusual weight: he recognizes her capacity for murder without reducing every voice inside her to the personality that killed his partner. Through Florin, the surviving crawlers begin treating Lucia's body as a contested refuge whose occupants require protection as urgently as the people threatened by her abilities.
