Species and Creature Index

Overview

The Species and Creature Index is the central reader-facing guide to living beings, transformed beings, dungeon-generated mobs, sapient races, pet-class creatures, reward-room creatures, and other biological or quasi-biological entities that appear across the Dungeon Crawler Carl series. The story does not try to replace every creature page. Its job is to explain how creature categories work and to route readers toward the best detailed pages. The crawl blurs normal categories. Some beings are natural members of wider galactic society. Some are crawler race options. Some are mobs generated or placed for a floor. Some are pets or companions with their own growth tracks. Some are transformed, summoned, manufactured, or staged for entertainment. The index explains that readers will encounter the same word in different contexts: a race can be a character identity, a monster label, a faction identity, or a game mechanic.

Merged creature entries

Naga, mantaurs, and mongoliensis is folded into this index unless future canon notes justify separate long pages. Naga and mantaurs are useful as part of the setting's wider species vocabulary, but the current short pages do not justify separate 1000-word articles. Mongoliensis should appear in the companion and pet-class creature section, with a clear link toward Mongo-related pages. The content emphasizes that Mongo matters as a character and companion, while mongoliensis is better treated as a classification and species note.

Suggested page structure

Start with a short explanation of why species categories matter. Then divide the index into sapient peoples and races, dungeon mobs, pet-class creatures, reward-room creatures, divine or celestial entities, and late-series threat creatures. Each entry has a one to three sentence summary, spoiler scope, and suggested links. Major entities such as Mongo, goblins, kobolds, reavers, and major bosses can remain standalone pages. Minor species names should live here until there is enough canonical detail for a dedicated page.

The index should make clear that the site uses species pages differently from character pages. Mongo, for example, remains a character or companion page because he has behavior, relationships, growth, and story impact. Mongoliensis can be a classification note because the species label is mainly useful for context. The same rule applies across the creature database. A named creature with an arc can support a page. A species term with limited known detail should usually live in this index until there is enough evidence for a standalone article.
